I recall the Boss Mustang guys basically giving the guy the cold shoulder too, sadly.
My take on that is the OP got off on the wrong foot by placing his post in the BOSS 302 section of the forum, and mused about the car perhaps having at one time in its development a BOSS 302 engine. Had he put his post in the "Off Topics" section and had the discussion center around its moniker of "BOSS" as relating to Bunkie Knudsen and the car's development at KK, the discussion would/could have remained civil.

I think its an awesome car and a great story!

I do not think the Eliminator prototype would have been at KK when this particular vehicle register was compiled.
The page in the book is from May of 1969 and was not from the closing of the Kar Kraft facility.
There are no serial numbers listed on the page only the tag number. There are 3 Cougars listed on the page.
One is a Boss 429 prototype, one is listed as Rumble Seat Dev and the 3rd is a pool vehicle assigned to an employee.
Because of the courtesy of Kevin Marti and the foresight of Lois Eminger to save the invoices the serial numbers of the first two units are known but are not to be published.

Dave,
What do you mean by the "first two units"? The first two Eliminators? The first two Eliminator prototypes? Something else? No, I do not expect you to list any VINs and I am not asking you to do that. Thank you.

The first two of the three on the Kar Kraft sheet.

The BOSS 429 Prototype Cougar and the Cougar that was slated for the Rumble Seat Development project.

Thanks Dave. Do we know the fate of either of those two Cougars?

Neither Cougar is presently known.
The Invoices that Lois Eminger saved from destruction are both at Kevin Marti's and have no rebill or other markings on them and have never been requested.

That doesn't bode well :-(

But then again, new VIN's turn up all the time!
