Prototype Boss Bronco found (There's still hope for the Eliminator prototype.)

Pretty neat story about the recent discovery of the '69 "Boss Bronco" prototype, which had long been thought destroyed.
http://www.hotrod.com/articles/prototyp ... -40-years/
There's a Cougar connection in that the Boss Bronco was the work of Larry Shinoda, who also designed the Eliminator package. (The Bronco sports an Eliminator scoop.) It was also cool to learn that the "Empire Yellow" color (same as used on the '69 Eliminator and Boss 302) was picked because it was the favorite color of his boss, Bunkie Knudson.
Anyhow, if this very distinctive Bronco could remain intact and undiscovered all those years, maybe there's hope that the '69 Eliminator prototype and its two-speed rear axle is out there somewhere as well.

There was talk about this rig on the Boss 302 forum a while back when the owner was trying to confirm what he had. There's a video on this Bronco out there as well. So not "new news", but still cool. I recall the Boss Mustang guys basically giving the guy the cold shoulder too, sadly.

Do we know if KK had anything to do with the prototype Eliminator? If so, it may be on that KK inventory sheet Mr. Comer was talking about.

Looks like what saved this prototype was the fact that it was at KK when they were liquidated.

Very cool story, love this sort of thing.

Phillip, that's a very good question. I'd be kinda surprised if the Elim prototype was done totally in-house at L-M, since it was such a departure from their usual offerings, but I really don't know. If it was farmed out, there's a good chance KK had something to do with it, since they were involved in so many of FoMoCo's prototype and "one-off" projects during the period. Does anyone have the Charlie Henry book on the history of Kar-Kraft that came out a few months ago? I've been thinking of picking it up. Curious to see whether there's any Cougar content.

^^^ I'm gonna pick it up too - I would think there would be at least some mention of the Cougars since Boss 429 Cougar owner Ed Meyer was involved.

Bill answered "yes" to my two questions, so we'll see.

For clarity, it is probably not the Eliminator prototype you are thinking about (two speed axle equipped version).

I have the Kar-Kraft book but haven't had time to finish reading it. I checked last night, it has four pages about the Boss9 Cougars and a few paragraphs about the Trans-am Cougars.
