Iris Festival Car Show

#1

Post by 1967 S Code » 29 May 2017, 14:50

This past weekend we had our local Iris Festival. One of the many events is the Car Show. I was unable to take my Cougar because I was working on shift at the Fire Department. I was asked by the committee to be one of the judges that would pick the Fire Department's choice trophy. I walked the show and looked at many worthy cars but some of my crew members as well as myself were taken back in time by one car in particular, a 1977 Mustang II Cobra. I couldn't remember the last time I saw one. I spoke with the owner and his wife, his story was much like the typical Cougar owner. He said he gets questioned a lot about what type of car it was, followed by my friend had a 1970 model just like it in High School stories. I think we made a good choice with our pick and the owner and his wife were thrilled that they were chosen.

Loves me some Cobra II cars! I swear, if I ever have to replace my daily driver my next one will be a Cobra II!

They get maligned so much, especially by Mustang People. I think it is funny when they call it a reskinned Pinto... yet they are quick to forget that the first Mustang was a reskinned Falcon! Or that the Fox Body is a reskinned Fairmont! LOL!

Well said Mike. How quickly some Mustang enthusiasts forget. I like the Cobra II, the graphics are cool in a retro way. I'd drive one as long as it was a black and gold '78 with T-Tops, 4 speed and A/C.

Swan Lake - Iris Gardens is a beautiful place. It's a local treasure. The Gardens hosts many events throughout the year and people come from all over to visit. My favorite event is the Fantasy of Lights.

My other car approves of this post. Image
1968 XR-7 Augusta Green, J-Code, 5 litre, Autolite 6100, 5 spd, convertible with heated seats, cruise control and rear sway bar.

BTW, I think electronic ignition is pointless.

Jody I figured this would be right up your alley. I thought your Cobra II had blue stripes. Didn't you also do a Mustang II convertible conversion? Here is a photo of a King Cobra convertible. I like it a lot.

Love the Cobra IIs. A bud of mine had a blue one w white stripes. A little warming over of the smallblock and it became a BLAST to drive. Would hang with a fox body after a cam, intake, carb, and headers. Looked cooler doing it too.
