Split Mono Leaf ?

Make your Cougar run faster, handle better, and jump higher... okay maybe not jump higher. If you feel the need for speed, this is the place.

Split Mono Leaf ?

#1

Post by 19cougar68 » 06 Nov 2019, 14:19

I already have the Calvert Racing Caltracs for my 68 Cougar and am considering getting their split mono leaf to replace my existing leaf springs. Does anybody have any input on their experience with split mono leafs? If you went with Calvert Racing what ride height option did you go with; +1", 0, -1" or -2".
How streetable are they? I know the ride will be a lot firmer than the factory. What about noise as I believe you do not install the rubber isolators with the split mono leafs.
My car will be mostly street driven but will make occasional trips to the strip. The car has a 445 FE (stroked 390) BBM heads, FPA headers, Edelbrock RPM intake, hydraulic roller cam and Sniper EFI. Rear end is a 9" with 3:70 Eaton Tru-Trac and a Big In/Out Toploader. Thanks for any input on the matter. Jim R

I went with a +1 on a few sets and would go that route in the future. I didn't think they are noisy but they are lighter and firmer riding than stock. My use is all spirted street driving.
