Fender to Rocker mount, screwed up.

I took off my passenger side rocker molding, and noticed that the lower part of the fender had been brazed to the lower rocker panel. Hmmm, that can't be good, wonder why they did that, I thought. Cut the fender loose and proceeded to remove the fender. Upon removal, I could see that the fender had a broken mounting tab. I thought that was it, nope. Today upon further inspection, I see the real issue, no mounting nut thingy.

Here is my problem, not sure why the screw hole is there, they may have tried to screw the fender to the rocker.
Anyhow, how do I fix this? Is that mounting nut, replaceable? Kinda looks like it snaps in, maybe?

yep called a "caged nut" AMK part.

Many have been welded, your just a screw. Grind flush & install new one.

I use a longer bolt to set new one into place. Fender may require a shim or a bit of love!

Sweet! Makes me wonder why they went to so much trouble, when it could have been fixed the right way, a lot easier.
