9F91R573612 - Blue Metallic / Blue Interior

For two years the Eliminator roamed the streets looking for prey. Although you could get an engine available from Mercury in the Eliminator, the Cobra Jet 428 and Super Cobra Jet 428 were common under the hood. This was also the only Cougar to get the Boss 302. The Eliminator Registry is maintained by Dave Wyrwas.

Here is some other info on this car;

4/02 it was reported to the Eliminator Registry by Scott Behncke:
"seen at Fabulous Fords Forever meet at Knott's Berry Farm, 8 track, console, tilt away steering, for sale, offers over $18,000, restored 1997, engine block was replaced in the early 70’s with a factory service block (unstamped)due to a mechanical failure according to the original owner."

Offered for sale is this stunning bright blue metallic 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator. This particular example is, and always has been, a California car with only 3 owners from new. The engine compartment, underside, and interior have undergone a recent and thorough refurbishing which included paint, disassembly and detailing. The front seats were redone with the correct seat coverings and carpeting was installed, adhering to the overall originality of this rare beauty. Mechanically, the engine block was replaced in the early 70’s with a factory service block (unstamped)due to a mechanical failure according to the original owner. All other components such as brackets and pulleys and such have the correct C8OE castings and stampings. The rear end is the original 31 spline nodular “N” case with 3.50 :1 gear ratio. This Cougar still retains all of its original sheet metal which was verified when the car was stripped during the restoration process in 1997. Since that time the car has been driven approximately 5000 miles, which is reflective in the overall condition of this fine example.

1969 Mercury Cougar 428CJ "Ram Air" Eliminator finished in OEM Ford #3077 a Bright Blue Metallic over black interior. 1 of ONLY 162 that were produced with this motor and C6 automatic transmission linked to its 3.50 standard axle ratio rear end. Fully documented and backed by the Marti Report. This vehicle has always been a California car and is free of any rust. It has be owned by 3 owners its entire life. A full refurbishing with no expense sparred was completed and included new paint, engine refresh, engine compartment, underside as well as interior dis-assembly with detailing and re-assembling. The front seats were recovered with the correct seat coverings and new carpeting was installed. Produced on May 16th, 1969 at the Dearborn plant. It was delivered new to Redwood Linc-Merc of San Francisco, CA. It was highly optioned from the factory with C-6 Merc-O-Matic Transmission, Courtesy Lights, Ram Air induction, Console, Power front Disc Brakes, Power Steering Hood Pins, Power ventilation, AM/8 track Stereo radio, Decor Group, Tinted Glass, Front Bumper guards, Remote control left hand racing mirror and much more. The block was replaced in 1970 with a replacement service block via Ford service under warranty due to mechanical failure. ALL other components, such as brackets, pulleys, and such are correct C8OE castings and stampings. The spline nodular "N" case with 3.50 :1 gear ratio is original and correct. The vehicle retains all of its original metal which was verified when the car was under the restoration process. This car has logged approx. 5000 miles since the full restoration with pride and care of past ownership showing through out.

I have reported so many of these cars, it is hard to remember specific ones. This might have been the one from the California central valley, that went up for auction locally around Fresno?

Power ventilation is a pretty rare option.
I know of a 1969 XR7, R code, Super Cobra Jet, 4 speed, that had that option, along with sunroof. Restored and in Phoenix, Az now. I will have to look for a copy of the Marti Report to see if it gave numbers on the Power Vent option.
