9F91R562615 - Blue Metallic / Blue Interior

For two years the Eliminator roamed the streets looking for prey. Although you could get an engine available from Mercury in the Eliminator, the Cobra Jet 428 and Super Cobra Jet 428 were common under the hood. This was also the only Cougar to get the Boss 302. The Eliminator Registry is maintained by Dave Wyrwas.

9F91R562615 - Blue Metallic / Blue Interior

Hey Gang,

This one belonged to Scott Gregory at one time, and has passed through several dealers since. So I'll break it into several posts.

Originally a Bright Blue Metallic car with blue interior, it has been color changed (by an owner prior to Scott) to Competition Blue with a black interior.

Here is a link to Scott's page; http://scottsgaragesale.weebly.com/1969 ... 28-cj.html
Scott's text, below;
This is the real deal, a Fully Documented R-code Ram Air 428 powered Eliminator with currently just under 62,800 original miles. It is 1 of 162 1969 Cougar Eliminators built with the 428 CJ engine and an Automatic Transmission. A copy of the Marti Report is included in the photos for your review. This car is also listed in the Cougar Eliminator Registry and a verification document is also included in the photos.

This Cat has an Original 428 Cobra Jet Block with the "C" cast on the back of the block. The Date code is: 9B20 which fits in with the April 11, 1969 build date of the car. There is no VIN number on the pad on the rear of the block where they normally were stamped so it is possible it could be a service replacement block or possibly it was never stamped from the factory. There is no way of knowing being now 40+ years later.

It has the correct Cobra Jet Cast Iron tailshaft C-6 transmission with the "R" servo along with the original 33 spline 9" 3.50 ratio Traction-lok rearend. The car was originally Bright Blue Metallic with Blue Vinyl interior. The car's colors were changed to a Competition Blue exterior and a Black interior by a previous owner along with a few other minor cosmetic changes. This car turns heads everywhere it goes.

The options this car was originally produced with according to the Marti report include: the Eliminator Package, C-6 Automatic Transmission, Optional (3:50) Rear Axle Ratio, Traction-Lok differential, Ram Air, Console, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Hood Pins, AM Radio, Decor Interior Group, and Remote Control Left Hand Racing Mirror.

Everything on this car has been gone though, the engine and transmission were rebuilt during its restoration, the Traction-lok rear is currently being rebuilt and will be completed long before the auction ends. Nearly everything else that could be purchased for this car both mechanically and cosmetically was during its restoration. Approximately $60,000 has been invested into the purchase and restoration of this car between myself and the previous owner of this car. Nearly all of the trim, emblems, bumpers etc. have been replaced with either NOS, reproduction, or super nice original pieces. The paint is very nice but there are a few minor flaws but they are too small to show up in the photos. The headlights and tailights work as they should, as does the AM Radio.

This car runs nice and has been driven about 300 miles since its restoration.

Here is the listing info from Feb 2013. This is the dealer in PA that Scott sold his car to.

It looks like this is where the car acquired the hood stripes and additional accent stripes on the hood and lower front quarters.

http://www.sportscargallery.com./1969%2 ... inator.htm
Listed for $68k
Matching Numbers 1969 Cougar Eliminator in stunning Grabber Blue with black stripes and a black interior. One of only 162 CJ428 Eliminators made in 1969, totally restored on a rotisserie, fully documented with the Marti Report, and with only 62,808 miles. The factory R-code RamAir Cobra Jet 428 engine has been rebuilt to stock specs and is totally factory stock. Original high-strength block, original Police Interceptor intake manifold, original high-flow exhaust manifolds, original ram air air cleaner assembly. The original carb is included with the car but has been replaced with a new correct Holley (the original would not idle properly). Starts right up and settles into a lopey idle with a deep exhaust note. Lights 'em up with the throttle, runs perfectly on premium pump, and there are no mechanical issues. These Cobra Jet 428s have a high nodular iron content block (with a C cast on the rear), high nodular iron content crank, Police Interceptor connecting rods, high-flow heads with 427 valves, Police Interceptor intake manifold, Holley 735cfm 4-barrel carburetor, high lift cam, and 10.6:1 compression pistons. They produced over 400 horsepower but were rated at 335 for insurance purposes and, with 440 lb.ft. of torque, run extremely well on the street. The heavy-duty C6 automatic transmission (with the R-servo) shifts perfectly and the heavy-duty 33-spline 3.50 ratio Traction-Lok posi rearend provides the perfect balance of acceleration and relaxed cruising. Power steering and power disc brakes for safe easy maneuvering.
The engine, transmission, and rearend have been rebuilt and operate perfectly. Very nice driving, very powerful car.

Gorgeous black bucket seat deluxe interior with the center console and factory Rallye gauges. Correctly reupholstered seats front & rear using premium Legendary foams & covers, new full-carpet kit, new headliner. No cracks in the original RimBlow steering wheel and no sunfade on the instruments. Gauges include the factory 120 mph speedometer, in-dash 6000 RPM tachometer, Oil Pressure, Water Temperature, Fuel, & Amps; all work properly. The clock has been rebuilt and keeps perfect time. The factory radio is still in place and works properly. Remote driver's side mirror. Exceptionally nice interior.

Excellent all steel body and I cannot find any patches or body filler. All gaps are factory perfect and panel fit is excellent. Extremely nice Grabber Blue paint done in acrylic urethane base/clear and then block sanded and buffed to a smooth finish. Factory correct black Eliminator side stripes and CJ428 hood stripes. Factory front chin spoiler and rear wing. Factory functional hood scoop with hood pins. All new weatherstripping, window whiskers, and trunk moulding. Show-chromed front & rear bumpers, perfect front grille, and perfect tail light panel. Hide Away headlight and sequential turn signals; both work properly. Excellent glass and all windows operate smoothly. The trunk is show detailed and contains the trunk mat & spare. Original factory Rallye Wheels fitted with P225-70-14 BFGoodrich T/A Radials. Just professionally buffed, hand waxed, and turnkey ready for cruises and shows. Runs & drives perfectly, has the Marti Report for authenticity, and is a lot of fun playing with the Mopar crowd. Exceptionally nice car.

December 2013, it was listed on eBay by Cats Exotics in Lynwood, WA. Initially thier buy-now was for $64,888, but they reduced the price to $59,888

A keen-eyed forum member noted that the front and rear side marker lights appear to be from a '70 Cougar. Scott's initial listing said that the previous owner had made "a few other minor cosmetic changes", so maybe he changed the side markers?
1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator finished in Grabber Blue with black stripes over Black interior. This MATCHING NUMBERS, VERY RARE '69 Eliminator is 1 of ONLY 162 made with the R-Code CJ428 for that year. It has gone under a COMPLETE frame off, rotisserie style restoration, sparing not a single dollar. It has been fully documented with a Marti Report as well. The factory R-Code 428 has been rebuilt to stock specs and is totally factory stock with the original high-strength block, original Police interceptor intake manifold, original high-flow exhaust manifolds, and original Ram Air cleaner assembly. The motor produces over 400 horsepower and 440lbs of torque! Mated to the heavy-duty C6 automatic transmission (with R-Servo), it shifts into the heavy-duty 33-spline 3.50 ratio traction-lok posi rear-end. Also coming with power steering, power disc brakes, gorgeous black bucket seats, rallye gauges, factory front chin spoiler/rear wing, factory functional hood scoop with hood pins, all new weatherstripping, window whiskers, original rallye gauges, RimBlow steering wheel, factory clock, trunk moldings, and an AM radio. It does not get any better than this exquisite example of American muscle car history!

From the photos in post #3 it appears that this car also has 1970 outboard seatbelt retractors.
