XR7G for sale on eBay

There were only 619 XR7-Gs built. They were built along side the Shelby Mustang, and were available with every engine and transmission offered in 1968, (except the 427). This was the first Cougar to be a part of the Hertz Rent a Racer program. If you have any information about these rare cats, this is the place to share. The XR7-G registry is maintained by Royce Peterson.

maybe 1967 S code knows then since he wrote he knew about the car.... I'm sure it was an "X" code and a Hertz; even the color is correct blue/white.

RAK1, Royce is the XR7-G registrar and has all of the production records for every G car built as well as the ones that were scheduled and not built. I think the confusion is this: the production Hertz G cars were all spec'ed out as identical cars except for the color combination.Maybe it was one of the introductory show units.

Just as a point to ponder, I wonder whey Hertz spec'ed the S code 390 4V as it was a good deal more expensive than the X code 390 2V? Hertz did take several steps to lower cost by substituting the styled steel wheels instead of the lace spoke wheels and also substituted the chrome valve covers for the cast versions. Then they spec'd the 2.75 rear axle ratio as well as the Rental Speedo gear as forms of "self protection". Maybe they thought that the sound of the 4V opening was a part of the rent a racer program not to be denied?

What's the VIN? I can verify its authenticity.

I sent that picture to Don. The car is an "S" code, 1968. Good solid car but very rough and the fender flares will require lots of work to remove.
RAK1 wrote:Here's a picture of the car; I found it on Don's (WCCC) site before it was sold on eBay. It had a Mart report with the auction stating it was one of the Hertz cars (188) and had picture of the door plate. Final price was about 13.5k when it sold last year.

If I recall correctly it was for sale with the asking price of $19,500. This was after the eBay sale. The owner is in the registry but that is information that I can not pass out.

It's a S code here is a picture of the intake. The color combo of the car is Diamond Blue with a white top and blue interior.
