The glass is out of my 68 currently too. I do not recall those notches being in my trim when I removed them. Ill check again this weekend and see how they compare to yours.

Yes, my 67 has a pin on each side of the joint. Three pins up both sides.

Boss, Thanks! So does your trim when connected form that notch like in my photo? Do you happen to know if your cougar is an early or late in the production year? Seems like there were a lot of distinctions on different areas of the cars depending on that. Not sayin this would be one of them, I just find it really odd I have two nail heads right at each joint, and would be missing 4 then.

Oh, and I would have three pins up each side also, just that one happens to be right at the joint on both sides. I took one of the curve pieces off from the long bottom piece. Seems like it could fit on the other side, then it would catch that pin, but don't seem like the overlapping of joints, and the butting that takes place on the bottom with the splice strip on the back would work then.

Heres what my 68 looks like. Notice the 2 clips are fore and aft of the union not on the joint.

Can't say for sure cuz I'm not looking at it first hand, but sure looks like to me if you put that trim down into the grove where it belonged that you would have that clip sitting half way into that joint. Also I can't see for sure if that is another clip just to the left (looks like it is) but the one to the right appears to stick up more than mine and the end looks shaped different, and curious as to why it looks like it is red?

Thanks Boss! Makes no sense to me why that notch is there. Guess it's just the way they chose to make it. I put it on tonight. It stays in place in spite of the fact that I know that clip isn't doing anything. The upper piece overlapping the lower piece holds it there. You cant' depress it because the clip in under there holding in up in the channel anyway.
The way I figure it, it must have went down the line that way. "Clips on, window in, trim installed, next" and down the line it went. Worker maybe didn't even know or see that hey these clips are not doing anything. What would they have done about it. Pulled it off the line and put it on the repair pile :) Doubt that one!
Anyway, gonna ask also, from the looks of it in your pictures Boss your lower curves are fairly untrue I'll call it. Maybe wavy would be another word. Just not nice true sweeping curves. Am I right, or seeing things? Cuz mine are the same way. Both sides the same, PS a little worse than DS. Just curious. Wondering if thats another Fomoco thing, or maybe an all car make manufacturing thing. Suppose you can see misalignment on new cars now days too.
Would be curious and like to see pictures of how others window openings are and trim fitment on cars together. I will get some pics of mine and up here now that trim is on maybe tomorrow.
Thanks all who took interest and chimed in, and listened to me whine. ;)
