Some of you may have seen my previous posts about convertible top adjustment and seals. I bought a set of A-pillar seals. I installed the RH side. I am having an issue with the part of the seal that the front of the window seals against. If I roll the window down the two flaps that run up the a-pillar separate and expose the channel where the screws are and if I go to put the window backup the outer flap is out too far out and the only way I can get it to seal properly is to close the door with the window already up. These two flaps of rubber were folded on top of each other on the factory seal and I had to separate them to gain access to the mounting screws where as on the replacement the "natural" position is for them to be separated. The seal has been installed for about a month and a half now. I have been storing the car with the window up and door closed in hopes that the seal would stay in the closed position where the flaps are laying on each other, but as soon as I open up the door the flaps separate.
I was thinking of running a bead of weatherstrip adhesive on the inside of the inboard flap, closing the door and letting it sit for a day to glue the seal s in it's proper position. Has anyone else had to do this or have any other recommendations? I bought both seals and have yet to install the LH seal. I want to install it, but don't know if it's worth it and I should leave my dried and shrunken factory seal on and return the replacement as it was a bit expensive.
I tried to take photos of both states of the seal, but not sure how well you can see them in the pictures.
If it's mechanical, electrical or just downright confusing, this is the place to find and share answers.
