If it's mechanical, electrical or just downright confusing, this is the place to find and share answers.

If you're out of ideas, I would remove remove the oil pan just to see if things line up without it.

If, in fact, it is the FMX that is causing all the problem (though, I doubt it), there is always this option:
1968 XR-7 Augusta Green, J-Code, 5 litre, Autolite 6100, 5 spd, convertible with heated seats, cruise control and rear sway bar.

BTW, I think electronic ignition is pointless.

I forgot about the fan hitting too. Could you have an original set of convertible pedestals and motor mounts? They lower the motor about an inch. The convertible motor mounts are not re-made and you can only get the hard top motor mounts now which do not work with the convertible pedestals.(ask me how I know....big PITA to figure out)
Just something else to check.
I confirmed via WCCC documentation and accurate measurements, the car has the correct frame/body mounts. I ordered a new set of motor mounts from summit racing. If that doesn't correct it I'll have spacers made. Thanks for your help

sorry for no recent reply, the project was on hold. New motor mounts were installed may 2019 and they made no difference. I checked with the ATK engines who built the motor to work in 68-74 cars but the block could be up to 1986. Mine is a 85 block. I asked them if there is any difference in the block that would cause it to sit so low, they said no. So the only solution is to make spacers which will be done this week.

Yes it would, make some spacers between engine and mounts with longer bolts if you can't find problem.
The project was on hold for a year but no one seems to know what the problem is. The manufacturers all say nothing wrong with their parts. :O So I put the car in the shop last month and asked them to make spacers for it among other things. It should be done (road worthy) this week.
