Thanks. I have seen that add before. I think I'll go look for it.

Cool Neil! I had not realized until now that the term "upbeat" was a Ford marketing term, I thought they were your words describing the interior.

Currently this Cougar is waiting for the engine rebuild. I hope to have that going in a few weeks. I have a bunch of winter projects going on. But I'll be back on it soon.

That's a good looking ad. Today's advertising is missing the mark on most of their ads. They just seem so plain.

From the dress the model is wearing in this ad to the Cougar standing on the Cougar it's just cool!

Saw this headline today -- Designer Makes Gowns Out of Car Interior Material -- and could only think of the Up Beat ad!

Neat find and purchase Neal. I'll bet those intermittent wipers were never even used...

I've finally gotten caught up to where I have time to get back on to this project. I think I am going to miss my original goal of having it at the Cascade Cougar Club show in a few weeks. I'm not backing down any and am going to try to get here there. But if not then it will be at West Coast Classic Cougar's picnic.
Today I got the engine to the rebuilder,
Image
But he had some bad news as far as his schedule goes, He has do a job out of town and can't start on it for another week.
Image
I have been working on other things on the car. Repairing the battery tray and lower part of the apron, Engine bay cleaning and fuel supply replacement. I have a lot to do. At least my job does not get in the way anymore.
I think this retirement thing is going to work out.

I talked to the engine builder yesterday. The block is still in the tank. He said it had been "Fogged" really hard.(protection for storage?) and was not cleaning up very fast. The heads are out and off for valve guides and seats. So I still don't know when I'll see it back.

I have been also working on t=other projects for it. This morning I got back a load of parts I had blasted. So I spent today getting Primer/seller on them. I have 4, 14 X 7 Magnum 500s and 3, 14 X 6 Magnums. I took 2 of the 6 inch ones planning to use one for the spare tire. I had not looked at them real close. I had noted the FORD logo on one of them, but when I got them home and started inspecting closely to pick the one, I found this on one of them.
Image
It is a MOPAR Magnum, It also has a diferent off set. More on this wheel later...
This is the load...

Getting started on the back side...

Back side done...

Starting on the front...

5 rims in Primer/Sealer.

OK, Back to the MOPAR Rim, as it is an odd ball, I used it to practice masking technique. Also as I will not be using it I used older paints I had hanging around to save the new stuff I got for the project. I primered it with ruddy red Rust-olm primer, them used Krilon 81613 Semi gloss Black to paint the center. Then used Green "Frog" tape to mask it off. I'll need to get some narrower tape for the rest. I had 1 inch and 1 1/2 inch tape here.
Image
I then shot the full wheel with Aluminum engine paint.(Stuff hanging around, not correct color)
Image
I let it dry for a while and this is how it looks. This wheel was rusty, but a little better then the one I did not have blasted. (That one is also a FORD wheel). Now when I have time to get back on to the rest of them, I think I know what I need to do to get them all looking good.
Image
So here are the rest of them sitting and waiting. I also get the crank and water pump pullies blasted and got them completed. The air cleaner housing and lid. They are also now painted as well as an extra air cleaner housing.
Image
I will not be getting much done for the next few weeks. But will have updates coming along.
