1967 4 speed shifter complete - can trade a 1970 Hurst competition plus shifter

Hello team, I am looking for a factory 1967 4 speed shifter with rods. I have a 1969-1970 Hurst Competition plus after market 4 speed shifter that I can offer in trade.

Why not just install the Hurst shifter? Well I could, but I haven't figured out how to get the larger 1970 Hurst top boot to fit with the smaller 1967-1968 style shifter opening, while still using the factory manual shift floor plate (non-console). Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Scott Taylor - Taylor Restorations

Scott,
You can use the standard 67 shift boot with the hurst shifter. The round hole will stretch around the rectangular shifter. I did carefully cut a piece of plastic to fit snug around the rectangular shift lever and fit snug to the rubber boot to help reinforce the round hole. It was a pain working the plastic piece up into the boot first, (as I made it that snug) but possible. Then just slid it over the lever. Works good so far. How long it will last ????
I have a console car, but should work the same for non.
The harder thing for me was the lower boot. I wanted one to protect things, so I use a 70 bottom boot and cut the top of it just so on each side and rubber cemented it back together so it would fit the smaller square hole.
Hope the explanation helps. I didn't take any pics :) If you do end up going with a factory shifter I have a brand new lower boot I can sell you.
