WTB 67-68 GT

Of course you want an Eliminator with a sunroof (well any Cougar really). List it here and cross your fingers!

I was going to do a series of videos titled "How to wake up a sleeping cat" but a lurker here on this site said he booked a flight and would be here at 3pm to pour over it. Stay tuned....

Don, I wouldn't let him pour anything over the car! :D

No title to me is a deal-breaker. I'd be patient and wait if I were you -- this one will cost too much money just to make a driver. It's not just an engine and transmission you need to find, you need to make sure the heads have the correct bolt pattern, you'll need pulleys and spacers and all sorts of stuff that will take a long time to collect. And when I see a dash that looks like that, I see wiring gremlins and more headaches down the road as well. If you're patient, a "cheap" S-code that is complete will crop up eventually. You do realize, however, that an X-code is converted to an S-code with an intake manifold and carburetor for all intents and purposes? Even as a plain old X, these little guys are torquie monsters to drive and just as much fan as an S? I've owned/driven both and actually liked the X I had better than the S.

Yes, I'm thinking the same thing with the title as well. There were LOTS of S-codes, when I wasn't looking for one. I used to have one that I bought in '79, for $1000, and it was near perfect. But I was in high school then.....

Im not sure what your price range is but here is an X code on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-Mercury-Co ... -l&vxp=mtr
I'm sure it could be purchased for less than the the asking price. It might be worth a telephone call.

Spotted a number of issues from a quick look:
- hood shut lines poor
- trunk shut lines poor
- car sits too high all round (esp. at the back)
- rear wheels stick out past the line of the fenders
- air con hardware missing in the engine bay
- wrinkles in the interior door panels
- warped dash pad

None of these are deal breakers but you'd want to get the car for way less than their asking price...
Cheers,
Brian

Agreed. But compared to the Craigslist GT price and the amount of work need to make it a driver the X code eBay Cougar for the right price is a steal. It must be way lower than the asking price.
