Holy Cow - most cars I deal with have an engine number, a body number and a chassis number. You guys go whole hog stamping everything LOL
Well, for a Boss 302 these things matter more than if it were a 351 car. Correct Boss carb and distributor can set you back $1-2k each, maybe more.

Re: 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator $38,000.00

Don't take this the wrong way but I think at $38,000.00 the car is priced right for what we know so far. In other words "As Is." This guy is 82 years old and it is a one owner car with low mileage. If I get real interest we can look for those numbers but I don't think it will effect the asking pric...

Re: After 50 years. It's still hanging.....

That is impressive! I say preserve it by not messing with it, LOL!

I'd be interested in learning if there is a good way to repair them, as mine is no longer hanging like it should be :-(

Re: Buck tag

Good pic, thanks for sharing! The only thing I have to add is that (my understanding is) the Buck Tag only has codes for things that require the "buck guys" to punch holes or do modifications of some sort in order for an option to be installed. So Power Brakes probably required a hole of some sort f...

Re: Hood location where bumpers touch

Hire your local paintless dent removal guy, they have hundreds of magical tools. OOoo! Good call! Might as well have him go over the rest of the car too while you are at it. Get the various door dings and whatnot sorted out. I'm dying to do that on mine too... but really, what's the point? LOL!

Re: 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator $38,000.00

You have no idea what I went through to get to figure out what the engine was. Big thanks to Phil Parcells and Dave Wyrwas. The car is a good solid example and now with no-stories. I have a pretty good idea. I've been following this one for YEARS now (since at least 2012), as well as the more recen...

Re: Eliminators on the Market (October 2018)

Popped up on CL https://rochester.craigslist.org/cto/d/1970-mercury-cougar/6720779252.html Per the Craislist add this Cougar is " Solid and Russ free underneath. " Don't forget the "for speed close-ratio transmission". Hasn't the debate with this car been whether it has a genuine Boss 302 in it? Wo...
