Re: Seattle Craigslist

I didn't call on this one, as the H-code in the VIN pretty much tells the story. It also shows Standard guages. Not a factory Eliminator, but a decent looking Tribute car. Maybe the seller means it is the original factory paint color? The door jamb does appear to show faded Comp Orange. I think this...

Re: Should this be restored or replaced

Cool thanks. My car isnt a $200 water pump level restoration, it will be getting an off the shelf replacement. Thanks very much Tinman! Just keep an eye out for a core with a good date code. They usually turn up in the $50-75 range. Stash it away for a time when you are ready to take it to the next...

Re: 70 Power Steering pump color

Catlover, thanks. The next question is to figure out which pump I have since this paint is for the Thompson F code... 1967-1973 COUGAR W/ FORD THOMPSON P/S PUMP, TAG CODE F Should be a tag on the back of your PS pump. There is some good info on the 428CJ website. The bottom of this page describes h...

Sweet :-)

I folks always told me don't expect any inheritance, that way I wouldn't be disappointed. You should go with something like that :-)

Re: Poor Cougar...

Bet that was a good looking car when it was new! Could be again, but would take a boat load to get it there.

Re: Turn signal lever

Wow, somebody's done their turn signal wand research  I never closely looked at them side by side TBH, so good to know! Well, my original was a bit crusty, and the knob was missing from the end. I couldn't find a good original, so I bought the repro and of course I had to compare them. I was t...

Re: Hate brake lines today

My 68 XR7 needs a lot of love but I am focusing on drivability first. I had a leak in a line from the prop valve so I planned to replace it, ordered the 6 piece pre-bent lines. All lines broke free and were in good condition except one...…. The one line not in the kit, the one going to the rear bra...

Re: Turn signal lever

There is also a difference in how they made the flat spot for loosening / tightening it. The original is squished like it went through a roller, while the repro is more like a machined cut. Also, the end knob on the repro is screwed on, while the knob on the original is pressed on. Wow, somebody's ...
