Re: Lucas Driving Light Parts

Maybe I'll start marketing these paperclip...er... reproduction Shelby Mustang/Cougar XR7-G/Jaguar/etc Lucas lamp retaining clips. Only $79.00 each ($89.00 each for deluxe, chrome version), plus $50.00 shipping and handling. Come and get em before they're gone!

Re: Lucas Driving Light Parts

Like the cheapskate that I am, I ended up making one out of a paperclip. It seems stiff enough as is, but if necessary, I'll heat treat it next time I grill burgers. :

Lucas Driving Light Parts

Do any of you xr7-g owners know of a source for Lucas lamp small bits and parts? I just need one of the retaining clips (springy wire thingy) that holds the bulb in the reflector.

Re: Removing grill emblem

Don at West Coast Classic Cougar has an excellent video showing exactly how to do this (and many other wonderful things).

Re: Chrome...

Perhaps someone clearcoated the bumper to try to protect the chrome and the shiny spot (to the left of your photo) is where the clearcoat has come off.

Re: Instrument voltage regulator

The instrument voltage regulator only affects the gauges. It doesn't affect the dash lights which are on a separate 12v circuit. If your dash lights aren't working, it's probably your headlight switch or a fuse.

I'll nominate whoever has a big cat ('74-80something?). I've been seeing more and more of them at car shows- often nice, clean, low-mileage survivors pulled from grandma's garage. Surely, someone here must have one.

I used one of my kid's foam pool noodles. It's bright pink.

Re: Originality vs arning drop?

TCP (Total Control Products) sells a dropped pivot mount to relocate the upper arm without drilling new holes in your shock towers. I'm not sure if it works with stock control arms, though.

Are you going to remove the springs?
They're not really in the way and if I remove them, I'll just have to find a place in the garage to store them. So, I think I'll just leave them be.
