Re: Red GT-E - Mecum Indy - May 2018

I think you have done excellent research in verifying the GT E. The next step I would do if I was the owner. Pay Jim Pinkerton and/or Jon Benoit expenses to come look at it and verify all your findings. If Jim concurs with your findings it's a done deal legit GT E. The meaning of Post #13 sure has ...

Re: Rear axle retaining bolts

Mike, You have two separate but related problems. 1. Oil leak, The gasket you made that goes between the retaining plate and axle housing. The purpose of that gasket is just to keep dust and dirt out of the bearing. It's purpose is not to seal and retain oil. The bearing is sealed and should have no...

Re: Now it can be told!

Re: Forgotten Cougar found, now the fun begins

When you go to pick it up be prepared for the brakes to be frozen/stuck. Usually the rear drums are the worse. Bring a BFH (big f**k hammer) and pound on the rear brake drums to free them up. If you have a propane torch to apply some heat will help . The front brake calipers or drums might be stuck ...

Thanks Randy! I forgot about the 70 column being a larger dia. Didn't know about the ignition switch hole being swapped and changed. I thought they just installed the cigarette light in it. Here are the pictures Randy sent that shows the difference between 69 & 70.

Just be sure that you get the correct lower dash, 69 is different than 70.

Wasn't aware their is a difference between the 69/70 lower dash Randy. What is the difference?
