Re: Wanted 3 spoke rim blow steering wheel for 70 Cougar

Exactly where I was going in my first post. I have a 69 rim blow, looks like an original wheel but it has the XR7 emblem and the burned wood look, not standard wood grain. I’m restoring/converting it and the wood grain decals John’s sells are 1/8” -1/4” too short. Frustrating. For a 1970 wheel here...

Re: mustang parts to fit cougar

John’s does bumpers as cheaply as I have found, assuming you can send in the core and are US based.

Re: Wanted 3 spoke rim blow steering wheel for 70 Cougar

So I think that’s an XR7 steering wheel based on the wood emblems decal. Is that what you are looking for?

Re: Rusty frame rail

I am/was a novice. I was able to do export brace using a portapower. Pull front suspension, tool loaned from O’Reilly’s for the springs. The I used a wire brush to scrape the rust and see the damage. Got a cutting wheel in anc cut out the bad metal. All of that took me a full weekend as I learned. M...

Been there done that. It will be both sides and worse than you expect. https://www.mercurycougar.net/forums/showthread.php?119754-behind-upper-control-arm-rust&p=991090#post991090 First thing I did was a European export brace to help shore up the shock towers before I began. Re: Applying clear coat to steering wheel

Gonna keep the discussion here since I started it here. Working on restoring my steering wheel. Converting it (back ?) to standard from XR7. I ordered the wood grain insert decals from john’s. They are about 1/8” too short on each arm. They replied back that they shrink over time- offered refund. Th...

Re: "The Parts Car"

I’ve been watching the videos. Appreciate the detail & tools. Thanks! I did cringe on the cutout fender. That looked like a decent truck... From the intros it looks like this will not be a daily driver. So that sets up my question. Barn fresh look will continue to rust, is that not a concern? Now M...
