Re: Tired

About 20 years ago I was using the BFG Traction T/A in 14" size. Those were really a great tire. So I know BFG knows how to make a decent tire for vintage cars. They just don't care about the performance side of this market anymore Z PS. now I'm completely enamored with the 15" Avon CR6ZZ tires .the...

If he's looking for BFG T/A's they are probably for a baby-doll cruiser. He'll be fine.
Affirmative. But since they don't come with a warning label, not everyone knows they do have documented traction issues. Hoping to save someone's fine ride from having an unplanned excursion off-road .

Re: Tired

If BFG has a tire size for you put them on and go down the road with a smile on your face. If you're going to try and blow off new Corvettes on a road course you'll need a lot more than those BFGs. I would only amend that to say that you'd need a better tire to blow off even a Chevette. Get your se...

Re: Tire

The BFG Radial T/A is a beautiful tire. Sadly, it sits squarely at the intersection of great looks & abysmal traction. No wet traction, no dry traction. If that isn't bad enough, they don't have the decency to give the driver a little squealing or howling before they break loose. Everything is just ...

Re: Power steering pump rebuild

There is one internationally known authority for 1960's era Ford and Mercury power steering and steering box restoration,Chockostang. Although Dan calls it a rebuild, really he restoring these parts to better than new condition, they will look and perform as brand new. The cost is very reasonable, a...

Re: High torque gear reduction starter

my idea of a classic is probably very narrow by most standards. classic: made before 1979 driving one is dangerous (compared to a modern car) your neighbors must think you're crazy to have it you faintly smell like gasoline after driving it a fire extinguisher is mandatory no aftermarket stereo unle...

Re: High torque gear reduction starter

Thousands of Australian Falcons use them on a daily basis, in both V8s and IL6's. I have the same starter in my daily Falcon ute that I use in the 68, 69 and Eliminator modern cars don't count. I'm wanting to hear from people that use their classic as a daily (everyday) driver. I'm not sure there's...
