Re: Shorty / Mid-length headers

The FE is pretty limited in the shorty style of header. You might look into the Sandersons. I see that Summit Racing carries them now. I'm not sure how they fit in a Cougar. They fit well in a buddy's truck, but did require some massaging to get around the oil pan rail and windage tray -- like they ...

Re: 68 Stereo speakers

Does the 69 have the same fader options as the 68 ? Does anyone have a picture of that knob ? I have an odd knob connected to what looks like an old potentiometer on my car that isn't labeled and I'm wondering if it's a fader that was either dealer installed or installed by one of the previous owner...

Re: Flexplate replacement

Depending on how you read the manual it may not appear very involved -- with steps like "remove the transmission" which is obviously easier said than done. You'll have to pull the trans or engine, depending which side you want to work from. Then it's a simple matter of unbolting the old one and find...

Re: Overspray

Hey thanks for the tip. I've been debating hitting the Mustang with a clay bar as its (mostly) original paint has seen a lot of contaminants and it just doesn't seem to wax up like it used to, but don't frequent the boards where they do that much anymore so didn't know if that was still a thing or n...

Re: Hot Start Long Crank

I wish, sadly I've never seen any gas station in the U.S. offer this. That's a pretty broad statement. There's usually one gas station in about every town around here with straight gasoline. Iowa tends to have 87 octane with and without. Minnesota you find the areas near boats and there are pumps l...

Re: Originality vs arning drop?

Looks like just for their arms (or others with heim jointed ends likely)
Dropped shafts are available in pre-assembled arms and can also be purchased separately to retrofit your existing straight shaft TCP arms.

Re: Originality vs arning drop?

I know this was discussed previously -- There is a company offering a dropped arm that puts the bolts above the pivot for the control arm. Theoretically that would give you the best of both worlds. Initially I had concerns about the bending moment that would be introduced there, but reading through ...

Re: I have just received a package from Santa Claus.

Just curious about this -- if you're swapping the housings, why was an NOS unit so important ?
Why not grab some other/less rare FE distributor to get the internal bits and have it curved to match your engine ?

Off idle transition

I'm tired of the off idle stumble that just about every 2100 I've owned has always had. I discovered a stripped bolt on the accelerator pump and decided to go ahead and tear it down to fix that. The throttle shafts are a bit worn, but I'm not sure what the threshold is where it causes problems and w...
