Re: '69 A/C Help Needed

The R134 gauges have different readings.
Is that fittings rather than readings ?

Edit : Following as my A/C seems to kick on once when first started and not again. Suggested to check air gap, but haven't made it to that and want to see if there are other things I should be looking for with it.

C-pillar lights on 69

I finally got around to putting in the sail panel/c-pillar panels that I got for Christmas, but am having trouble finding the plug that is supposedly there for the lights. The car did not originally come with them, but my first one did so when I saw how bad the original panels were I put the lighted...

Re: A real head scratcher

Put a timing light on them to validate they are actually getting spark or not getting spark then you know if you're dealing with electrical or airflow problems. Pull the valve covers and check things out there too. I had a similar issue and it turned out the valve cover was holding one of the rocker...

Re: 1985 Cougar LS 5.0L HELP!!!

Changing the oil and gaskets isn't going to affect things UNLESS you do it wrong, and replacing gaskets in a system with a lot of old wires and vacuum lines is asking to break things. What year is this Mustang you're working with? You said V6 convertible and I was thinking you had said something abo...

Re: 1985 Cougar LS 5.0L HELP!!!

I did bump injectors as well how do I check them? With the light around them properly you'll see cones of fuel spraying out of them. We found the issue using starter fluid initially and when sprayed near one of the injectors the miss went away briefly, then discovered the spray not coming out becau...

Re: 390 Rear Main Install

What year is the 390 ? I was remembering that some of the earlier ones had a rope style of seal and thus had a nub in the channel that would cause the rubber seal to deform and leak. A google search turned up a thread on FE Power that confirmed this. http://fepower.net/simplemachinesforum/index.php?...

Re: 1985 Cougar LS 5.0L HELP!!!

I just validated 85 is a CFI car, which means throttle-body injection. You don't have an IAC valve because they used a stepper motor that was set up more like a carburetor on there. I'm having trouble following some of the things you're referencing here. "duralast junk" ? I am guessing you're not ta...

Re: Timing light not sensing

Hate to ask the obvious, but is the car actually running and that cylinder firing ? Try another wire and/or the coil wire just to be sure. If anything you should have an easier time with an inductive light as the ignition should be stronger not weaker. Some super fancy new insulated wires ?

Re: Flexplate replacement

Which holes are you referencing ? The spacing on the flywheel bolts should be such that it will only go on one way. The torque converter may or may not be that way. I don't remember on the Fords I've dealt with if those are evenly spaced or not, but even if they are if it changed at any point the AT...

Re: 1985 Cougar LS 5.0L HELP!!!

The fox era cars have a restrictor in the inlet for the heater core to help with blowing out the cores, make sure when you're swapping those hoses around you get that thing back in there or you may end up with a footwell full of antifreeze. When you are checking the firing order are you using the on...
