Re: Rocketman Tachometer Question

BTW, I don't actually see a stop pin on the '69 tach. My '70 (Rocketman 6K) tach has one, but none on the '69. Are '69 and '70 tachs different that way? I always thought they were the same, but never really paid attention to stop pins before.

Re: Rocketman Tachometer Question

Hmmm. None of that sounds like what's going on with my tach. Plus I'm certain I revved it over 4500 as I was driving around after this happened. But I'll give the engine a good twist later on just to be sure.

Rocketman Tachometer Question

I've had a Rocketman 8000 RPM 3-wire tachometer in my '69 Eliminator for several years, and have been very very happy with it. Unfortunately, when I started the car yesterday, the tach needle immediately dropped to a position about 20 degrees below the Zero marking, and stays there regardless of RPM...

Re: Speedometer needle reading excessive speeds

Stock parts or aftermarket? Factory speedometer is 100% mechanical, so there's no way an electrical surge could cause a false reading.
I have no experience with aftermarket speedometers, so have no suggestions if that's what you're dealing with.

Re: Power vs Manual Steering Gear Box

BTW, I am kinda surprised that you're finding "lots" of affordable 16:1 manual gearboxes out there, as fast ratio manual boxes are by far the least common factory variant, and typically rather difficult to find, in my experience.

Re: Power vs Manual Steering Gear Box

Yes. Aside from the tag and pitman arm, there is essentially no difference between the "fast ratio manual" box and a power steering box.

Re: 1990 Mustang 5.0 Engine in 68 Cougar

Looks like they are running an older style distributor. If so, one critical thing to verify is that the drive gear was replaced with a newer style compatible with the roller cam in the '90 engine. Otherwise, the original cast iron distributor gear will be worn away by the steel cam gear, sending tin...

Re: Johns Classic Cougars??

They're on the road a lot attending shows and meets, and they've reduced the store hours, but still open. Plus they've always been a lot easier to reach via phone than e-mail, in my experience. But Dee can usually be reached through the JCC Facebook page, if you need to contact them electronically. ...

Re: Newberg, Southwest Mo.

Welcome! Good looking cat. Great color. I'll second the recommendation to get involved with MACC. Its a great resource. Although the core of the membership is in Oklahoma, there are active members in all the surrounding states. Last month's Club meeting was in Arkansas, next month's will be in Kansa...
