Re: 67 gt

It wasn't uncommon back-in-the-day for mechanics just to wire it so the entire bank of tail lights on each side would fire at once, defeating the sequencing, when problems arose.

Had to have this done in the '70s one time, so my Cougar would pass inspection in Virginia.

Re: 67 gt

The S code 390 4v was available with or without the GT package. And Mrj001 is correct, you could also add the XR-7 option to either. If the Cougar your are going to look at is a factory GT, it should have gotten GT badges on the quarter panels between the front wheel wells and the doors. The best wa...

Re: Found R-Code 1968 Cougar Today

Here is a vintage pic (circa 1967) of Bud Moore Engineering in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Looks like a couple of people drove Cougars to the shop that day.

Re: Cougar article from 1967

That is a terrific and seldom scene article from the May, 1967 issue of Raceway Magazine, which was the official publication of the late, great Riverside International Raceway in Riverside California. It was also the track that Trans-Am rivals Dan Gurney (Bud Moore Cougar) and Jerry Titus (Shelby Mu...

Re: Paint color

It's a factory 428 Cobra Jet with a 4 speed close ration manual transmission, so still a highly desirable Cougar.

Yes - that is the other red with black top '68 Cobra Jet that Royce is so graciously posting about on a separate thread on this forum with lots of great photos documenting the details. Not a GT-E tho.

Re: Found R-Code 1968 Cougar Today

Hmmm, that is fascinating. Bud Moore's shop built and campaigned the Trans-Am Cougars in 1967 and then took them into the NASCAR Grand American division in 1968. Those were all road racers (and ovals) with small blocks. No reason why Bud wouldn't have liked a Cobra Jet for the street but it makes mo...

Re: Found R-Code 1968 Cougar Today

The black car has sold at least once since the Quay's restored it - maybe the Cobra Jet Registrar knows for how much?
