Re: Match Xr7 dash

That's a tough one, as it's not a natural material that you can "stain". I was talking with a coworker at WCCC the other day about this and we think it's some sort of printed plastic that was vulcanized to the metal panels. So how do you "stain" plastic without losing the detail of the fake woodgrai...

Re: Alternative armrest fasteners on a 67

You have some options, though it's tough when the vinyl is cut or damaged. You can replace the door panel backer boards , as you probably know. I guess you could reuse the long armrests to hide the extra holes but that's not ideal. On the rear panels, new plastic backers are available, and depending...

Re: Refinish gold repro steering wheel emblem

That emblem is for the XR7-G only and is a different size and shape than the rest of "normal" Cougars. Best would be to get a used original and paint it silver, then do the black background by hand (paint pen or similar). If you're fixated on this metal emblem, the only thing I can think of is to us...

Re: Alternative armrest fasteners on a 67

Man I may be a purist but I would rather keep all the appropriate 67 components and colors in your 67. You could sell the 68 panels to help fund refurbishing your existing parts, or maybe trade them for better 67 panels if yours are trashed.

Re: Was there ever a Cougar "California Special"

The only thing in that description that rings true is the striped seats. There was an option called the "upbeat interior" which had striped cloth inserts, and there were a few different color options. Aside from that, there was no CA Special Cougar unless someone made a custom one. P.S. RX-7 is Mazd...

Re: Read end leak and fluid question - Please help

If you're just adding fluid I'd stick with conventional since that's probably what's in there. You might want to change it entirely though since you don't know how old it is, and it's probably quite old. If you do that then you might as well step up to synthetic. You can try tightening the nuts to s...

Re: roof trim

A lot of the fasteners are available new. If you're just talking about the roof weatherstrip channels, those attach with these type of trim screws.

Re: 68 standard, restromod driver?

Ah well there ya go! Since you're doing a restomod and changing the seats I can see why custom door panels might be a good option.
