Re: 1970 Mercury Cougar Boss engine stamp

I have not either, but it could be that a rebuilt block was used as opposed to a "new" block.

Re: 1970 Mercury Cougar Boss engine stamp

It is on a pad at the rear of the block behind the intake manifold. If the vin is there a digital camera between the hood and cowl can ususally obtain a photo.

What is more important on a BOSS 302 is the block casting found above the starter.

Re: 1968 Cougar / 1 Owner / Low Miles / ALL Original / 0 rust California Car

I think Kevin as a minimum does body type (XR7/ standard, convertible, etc), then package if applicable (G, GTE, Eliminator) Engine Transmission Color Interior then he might have other criteria that he uses depending on vehicle but works toward a 1 of 1 as quickly as possible. I have seen cases that...

Re: Paint color

The owner emailed me at about the same time as the original posts. It was definitely not an Eliminator from the factory. The serial number is too low, the scheduled build date is too early (28K = October 28, 1968), the paint color (W) was not available on an Eliminator and the interior code (1A) is ...

The car is a sesquential series. Serial # 9F91R516789. Would that have included this muted yellow?
Thank you.
9F91R516789 is not an Eliminator, so it is possible that it was paint code "W".

Re: Paint color

If you are referring to a 1969 then "W" was an available color. It is a shade of yellow.
It was not available on an Eliminator in 1969. The yellow for an Eliminator was paint code "9" Bright Yellow.
