Looks like some nice work coupled with some things that should have been fixed. And he likes to exaggerate on the costs.

I was lucky enough to be looking for these 8 or 9 years ago and managed to find a nice pair. I can’t remember the last time I even saw one nice one.

I think that $40 would the very top dollar.
With the cost of some reproduction parts that are only “close enough”, I would have to say $40 would be a bargain for a sending that works properly.
