How far are you looking to go? Can be a huge job. I certainly wouldn't spray it down with a garden hose. Soapy rags and a spray bottle of grease cleaner for the tougher areas. I was quoted $235 for the gauge bezel and $210 for the passenger side by Vacuum Orna Metal. They did great work on Andrew's (Blitz).

Garage Security

I found this guy after work tonight hanging out in my shop. Fairly docile, I think he may have recently snacked on a mouse that found it's way in. We don't see a lot of this in CNY, most of the snakes we see are under 12".

He didn't appear to be a Cobra Jet, so I shooed him away.

There are usually tell tale signs of a repaint. Look for things that didn’t get masked or overspray where there should be none.

The thermostat is easy to test just put it in a pot of water and bring to a boil keeping an eye open for when it starts to open its good insurance if trouble shooting is needed later you will know when and if its reaching full open. Run in and tuning completed. For now anyway, still need to tinker with a few things like the thermactor parts. The quality issues with simple replacement parts amaze me, the brand new thermostat I bought did not function.
