Re: Ignition question

Actually, I am trying to find out what is being generated for a tach signal. I have a customer that is only getting 8.2 V signal at idle and 10 V around 2700 RPM. He changed the coil to a Pertronix '12V' coil and bypassed the 'pink' ballast resistor but it made no difference. Granted, the coil has a...

Ignition question

I am looking for some input regarding ignition systems. Anyone with a running car, a volt meter and a Pertronix or points ignition can answer this... I want to know what the voltages are on the + and - posts of the coil when the car is running. That's it. Easy, right? If you could post anything abou...

Vendors section

I would like to have a 'Vendors' section on the site. Another site I belong to offers this to supporting vendors and I find it very useful, not only as a vendor but as a customer as well. New members can see vendors and their products and posts about new products don't get lost on busy sites. I cert...

Re: Fuel Level Sending Unit

A lot of us have been waiting for the supplier to WCCC and John's Classic to fix the float readings for the XR7 sending unit. Unfortunately the same vendor seems to supply everyone. The Mustang guys have been fighting this for over a year now. It seems no matter who you buy from the senders all hav...

Re: Cranks but no start !

Tells me Bob has a past. Hot wired a few cars in his day eh? LOL, I was working on cars back in the pre 'App for that' days when the internet consisted a bunch of Motors manuals on a shelf. I had a nice used multi-meter my father had given me so that made me the 'electrics' guy. When they started p...

Re: Cranks but no start !

Run a jumper wire from the battery + side to the coil + side. This the same as having the key ON.
If it starts you will have to remove the jumper wire from the battery to shut it down.
Make sure to keep everything clear of the fan and other rotating goodies.
