Re: Rear drum to disc conversion 68 XR7

When it's my time I'm going to 'party retire' too!

Would love to hear your before/after impressions. Do you have front disks already? I've heard some opinions that rear disk isn't needed and others that are advocates. What kind of car do you have; more factory original or resto-modded?

Re: Bullitt Mustang and my Cougar

This is cool! So many similarities and only 4 days apart! It raises a question for me. What was the takt time for the '68 Mustang and Cougar from serial number generation to when it rolls out the door? With only 4 days apart could they have been on the line at the same time? Btw, I just looked it up...

Re: Dealer Incentive Ring from Josten's (1979)

I didn't even think of it, I'll have to ask about an engraving.

I like to see all the different things used for promotion. You can sometimes come across some pretty odd stuff. I've never heard of this one either, but my experience is pretty limited with regard to Cougars.

Dealer Incentive Ring from Josten's (1979)

I was talking with a friend this weekend and he told me his dad had Mercury dealership in the late '70s and that he received a ring from Mercury. I don't recall if he said it was as a reward for performance or why it was sent. I know it isn't our vintage, pre-74, but I think it's pretty cool! Has an...

Re: Short when parked.

Hi Paul, welcome to the forum. I want to make sure you're measuring current not voltage. The voltage you measure is only the value of the amount of charge stored on the capacitance in the circuit after you've disconnected the battery. What causes the battery to drain is the current that flows when ...

Re: What factory build mistakes have you seen on Cougars?

It's not a classic, but a friend had a mid-80s Thunderbird that had Cougar emblems on the front and Thunderbird on the back. Of course we called it the 'Thunder Cat'.

Re: don't remember seeing this one

There's a 2-page spread on this car in the October 1968 Hot Rod magazine.

Re: Can this be true?

Thanks Leon and Don,

Leon, you said on the last thread there were no RHD Cougars, but I didn't know about the rest of Ford.

As for the tilt, there's enough mods that the tilt may be aftermarket and not have been part of the original conversion.
