Eliminator Clone - thoughts?
Eliminator Clone - thoughts?
Price seems high for what is basically a base 70. My ultimate plan was to style the Cougar I get in the Eliminator style, though I would not do the lettering, but what's done is done.

What value would you put on this? Thanks!

Re: Eliminator Clone - thoughts?
A real one would be ideal, but priced out of my budget unfortunately. Knowing it's not a true Eliminator, do you hate this look or say hey cool looking 70 in good condition? I am not looking to "clone or tribute", just a driver with good bones I am not going to have to sink a ton of money into to enjoy.
Re: Eliminator Clone - thoughts?
I say check it out, if it is as good as described then go for it.
There is never time to do it right, but always time to do it over

I am a little late with this post.johnque wrote: ↑09 Oct 2018, 06:35A real one would be ideal, but priced out of my budget unfortunately. Johnque, Here is the thing IMHO. Eliminators, like their brother muscle cars of different makes were the kings. Why, muscle, looks and the like. So when you ask "do you hate the look?" you are probably going to get a 50 - 50 response. Purest's are probably not going to like it and that is fine. However, what you are thinking of doing or buying is / has the same "day two" mods that we all did back then. Spoilers, scoops, Hurst shifters, and in my case growing up in Detroit, mud flaps (we had to have mud flaps back then in Detroit, don't remember why) are just some of the examples. The only caveat I have is that if a scoop is added to the hood, it should be functional (personal thing of mine).
When I first saw Pole Cat I did not see an Eliminator tribute, I did not see an Eliminator clone, I saw a Bad Ass 69 XR7! After further investigation, I saw potential to make her even more after I got into it. We should be respectful of certain models like Eliminators, GTE's, etc. and realize that they should be left alone, or upgraded / restored to their respective concurs level.
I personally would not want a true clone in that everything was made to look exactly like an Eliminator when it's not. However, day two type mods making a car look the way you want, priceless. Buy what you want, be respectful of what you have if you end up with a "special" model, and then go drive the hell out of it!!!!
My 2 cents, Gary
