67 gt 4 speed into a 68 x code cougar

Make your Cougar run faster, handle better, and jump higher... okay maybe not jump higher. If you feel the need for speed, this is the place.

67 gt 4 speed into a 68 x code cougar

I’m Getting ready to pull engine and c-6 out of the X and put in the 4speed and 3.55 locker in from my old 67gt.

My question are,
Is there a hydraulic clutch setup that works good with the 390 and top loader....Or should I just get all the bushings and rebuild the rod and spring system?

What’s a good clutch? I’m using The old flywheel, it looks ok just needs a resurface

Is there any detailed install instructions for a 4 speed? I kept everything from the 67 minus the pilot bushing for the last 30 years, I can usually feel my way through but if anything is out there it would be helpful

Thanks,

John

You may want to look at a new steel flywheel the original part is 50 years old and made of cast iron, looks good is a poor and unsafe standard to use for such a part.

That’s an odd statement, I’ve had cars and trucks with original machined flywheels and never felt unsafe...

Modern Driveline's "LF" hydraulic setup is very nice. I'm sure they could get you set up for the 390/Toploader somehow.

Yup, that guy, the hooligan.

Somewhere out there is a tree, tirelessly producing oxygen so you can breathe. I think you owe it an apology.
