I know that you’re looking at the transmission right now but you also should look at your upper control arm. In this photo looks like the dog bone is worn significantly .Image

Thanks! I know the list will continue to grow once I start work on this. Haven’t flatbedded it home quite yet. Between our weather around here and my garage door needing to be replaced, now taking the family on Spring Break, it has taken a little longer to get it home. I’ll be sure to post a TON of pictures as this will be my first restoration and don’t have the eye some of you guys have. I know the main things I need to do and will discover more things once I get into it but I’m still learning.

Have you ever pulled a transmission before? Do you have the basic knowledge? Or are you starting from scratch? No sense telling you something that you might already know, like be sure to have a trans plug ready to insert into the tailshaft as you pull the driveshaft out.

I have some knowledge and anything I don’t know about I’m gonna research like no other before I do anything. Also have a good buddy that has a fair amount of knowledge that’ll probably be helping out along the way and I’ll pay him in beer. Haha. But any tips/tricks/learn from my mistakes I’ll take them because if anything it’ll just get me to look at it differently or from another perspective that maybe I wouldn’t have.

It sounds like you were able to experience the transmission fluid bath.

Now back to Natew. Before you even start this project buy a bag of floor dry. Kitty litter will work, but not as well. Even if you are super careful you will need some of this product.

An hour away so yeah pretty close. Thanks and I’ve got some work ahead of me but it should be fun!
