Don't get too excited... Those are painted on stripes.

Don,

For my education and likely others how can you tell they are painted on? The weathering patterns on them?

Galen, you can see it because of the wear and fading on the stripes, look at the driversdoor, you see clearly the fading/worn away color on a section there, and also on the Hood, the color have faded or flaked off, leaving only the edges left, it it would have been vinylstripes, it would have faded in a different way, and also leave a different background color where the fading is.

A car sitting in the grass for any lenght of time = no air movement on the underside and trapped moisture. Unless it is in a dry climate I bet the whole underside is rusty.

Run your finger nail across the edge of it. If it catches easily on the black, as if it were a decal stuck on top of the orange, then it is most likely original style decal... or badly painted stripes :-)
If your finger nail catches on the orange, then someone probably masked off the original stripes and resprayed the orange over it.

The decals would normally wrap around the edges of the gaps at the door / fender, I believe. So you could check those edges and see if they look like the stripes might peel away or if they appear painted.

OR... you could get the VIN number and order a Marti Report for $15 to confirm / deny factory Eliminator option. That would save you time and gas :-)

Sure looks like a decal to me. The "Eliminator" on the wing in the back anyways. Those are tears in part of the letters with edges of the vinyl coming up to me based on the picture.
