Johns classic cougars 1/4 panels

Post by canadacougar » 28 Oct 2017, 00:12

Has anybody used 1/4 panels for a 1969 from Johns Classic Cougars, made in the USA die stamped. $395.00 each.
Also are convertible 1/4 panels different from coupe's?
Thanks

No experience with John's door panels, but have not heard anything negative on here about his work. I do have a set of his door pulls and they are very well done.
Convertible quarters are different on top than coupe quarters. Vert quarters have a wider rear top rail (between trunk lid and outer side than coupe's do. The sides of the quarters are the same. In fact, I grafted the side of a coupe quarter into my vert's passenger quarter with no real issues.

Coupe quarters can be used if only the area below the upper body line needs to be replaced and you don't mind the splice that will show in the trunk. That is how most quarters were done back in the day. The line I am speaking of is just above the factory pin strips and was spliced about whete the pin strips are.

You can also cut a wheel well arch out of a front fender and use it for a patch panel on the quarter. If all you need is the top of the arch.

They are not good quality at all. Here is the WCCC take on them in the link below. We also have good used cut to suit 1/4's in stock.
