1970 Cougar Eliminator Production Stats

For two years the Eliminator roamed the streets looking for prey. Although you could get an engine available from Mercury in the Eliminator, the Cobra Jet 428 and Super Cobra Jet 428 were common under the hood. This was also the only Cougar to get the Boss 302. The Eliminator Registry is maintained by Dave Wyrwas.

Updated stats for 351 Auto & Manual Eliminators in Competition Blue. Have almost all Competition Blue paint data now, except for 351 manual trans (3spd/4spd) breakdown.
Also did some math on the Comp Gold Boss 302's with Black Decor Interior. Yay math!

BTW ~ I sent an email to Marti Autoworks today inquiring about an estimated cost for complete paint color / interior / eng / trans breakdown. I was told to resubmit my request when they reopen the Research option in August / Fall 2014.

Excellent work, Mike!

So, how many comp blue 70 elims had a sunroof? You don't mention this color under the sunroof data.

Sorry, sloppy space holding on my part. I don't actually have data on comp blue sunroof cars. So if you see any info, please keep this thread in mind.

There was a question about SCJ numbers by Joe Valenti (JSV) on the other site; http://www.mercurycougar.net/forums/sho ... post706122

I looked deeper into the 428cj/scj numbers I have, with documents to back up the data...

374 eliminators with the 428 (CJ+SCJ);
192 w/ Auto
--128 w/ Ram Air
-- 64 non-Ram Air
182 w/ 4-speed
--?? w/ Ram Air

127 SCJ eliminators
112 SCJ + Ram Air eliminators
--42 w/ Auto
--70 w/ 4-speed
15 SCJ non-Ram Air eliminators
--?? w/ Auto
--?? w/ 4-speed

374(CJ+SCJ) - 127(SCJ) = 247 CJ
128(cj+scj w/ramair+auto) - 42(scj w/ramair+auto) = 86(cj w/ramair+auto)

247 CJ eliminators
?? w/ Auto
--86 w/ Ram Air
?? w/ 4-speed
--?? w/ Ram Air

**I had previously recorded that the 247 CJ cars were split by 150 w/auto and 97 w/4spd.
BUT...I cannot find supporting documents. And I believe this is where the error stems from:
182(cj+scj w/4spd) - 97(cj w/4spd) = 85(scj w/4spd)
127(scj) - 112(scj+ramair) = 15(scj+non-ramair)
85(scj w/4spd) - 70(scj w/4spd+ramair) = 15 scj,4spd,non-ramair... which we "know" is wrong, based on Joe's SCJ non-ram air AUTO car.

I think that somewhere in the previous numbers chain the 42 scj+ramair+auto cars were taken as "42 scj+auto" (i.e. ram air left out of the equation). We ended up with...
192(cj+scj+auto) - 42(scj+ramair+auto) = 150(cj+auto) <--- incorrect comparison of data

Ok, very convoluted, I know... I've tried to seperate out the info so that in the future my path can be followed somewhat accurately. Hopefully folks will not confuse the numbers.
I have updated the '70 Production Numbers for 428cj/scj to reflect these changes.

Update on the Sunroof Eliminators;

---23 Competition Yellow
------6 White Standard Bucket Seats with Black Appointments (AA)

Elite Marti specifies 102 sunroof Eliminators, and that "100 came with a 351-4V Engine. They were all Hertz Cars."
That implies that the other 2 are non-351 cars (i.e. either boss 302 or 428cj).

Are they still out there somewhere?
