Couple of 67 interior questions

Post by pellets4fuel » 01 Jun 2018, 08:52

Couple of 67 interior questions today that shouldn't be too hard to answer, so I can keep going on assembly.
A couple of pics showing where the carpet meets the lower front of the interior quarter trim panels. Does the carpet go behind these, or in front of in the recess molded into the panels? With the panel in place and the door jamb pinch strip on there really isn't room IMO for carpet to go behind, but how to have a cut edge on the carpet so it looks nice with the carpet on the outside is a question also. The Osborn interior assembly manual just don't make it clear to me.
Second question are the padded pinch strips around the door opening. I have a couple of screw spots in my pinch strips (which are not the original set) but the book shows nothing of screws in those strips (unless I missed it) I know coat hooks and clips for shoulder harnesses come into play which I am doing neither of, but you wouldn't think those would go over the padded trim. How would you ever get that clip or coat hook tight unless you squished the pad down when tightening the screw, and what should the screw be?
If putting screws in these is there a "best way" to get new holes in metal structure behind without worrying about my nice new headliner and such? There is no way the holes in these pads I got from a different car are going to line up with original holes that may exist.
Thanks all!
(edit Top picture ended up upside down. Oops :) It's passengers side door)

Hopefully someone gets back to you before me.

I can get pics for you since mine is original all around.

The problem is I won’t be back for a visit until the 16th.

I will pm you my email so you can remind me!

Thanks Ed! Anyone else have any input or could snap a photo of theirs for me. I think I know what the screws for the jamb pads are suppose to be. Just a chrome trim screw (#8 maybe) with the little cone shaped trim washer? Anyone know where I can get those AMK maybe?
Carpet at interior quarter panel has me stumped though.

On the carpeting I cut mine close to the floor along the kick panel & trimmed to fit along the door sill.

Thanks Randy. What did you do with it where it meets the quarter trim panel for those few inches in the back? Trim it neatly and lay over the top, or try to cram it behind? When I install the quarter trim panel with the pinch lace and its screws just no space behind it like my picture shows.

Bumping this once to see if I can still get a response on the carpet thing. Hoping for a picture of the detail on anyone's car where the carpet meets the quarter trim panels.
Thanks,
David
