Wow, It has been about 4 months since I did an update. I have done a lot of work that I have not posted. The underside is just about done. That will be done next week as well as the below noted work in the engine compartment.
I spent some time on this project this week. I got 2 coats of Black primer on the engine compartment and then 3 coats of Semi Gloss Black on. Today I started putting parts back on. Engine frame stands, Battery tray and the brake lines reattached. My plan is to finish the areas under the hood hinges after I have the car on all 4 wheels. At that time I will remove the hood to clean and detail the underside of it and will remove the hinges then, I didn’t want to deal with that huge hood lying around in the shop for the last year.

Next week after the Fordnutz 50th Cougar show I will be hard at work to try and get this done by the Cascade Cougar Club’s 50th Cougar show.

After a good 5 month hiatus I got back on to this project this week. We got the engine and transmission bolted in. I can now tinker around getting every thing hooked up and get it running, It will take ma maybe until March to get it all buttoned up. It will need to go to an alignment shop directly. Then get her all polished up for the summer. Some pictures below for your entertainment,

You will see more movement on this one over the next few months. I think I can see some light at the end of the tunnel...

The engine looks great in a fresh coat of paint. I’m looking forward to seeing your progress over the next couple of months.

I got back on the car today and got a lot of items done... Under the hood I got the carb, Distributor cap and wires, shock tower braces and some of the electrical installed under the hood.

I then raised it up and started working underneath. I got the mount bolts all torqued down and then went to do the torque converter nuts only to find out the original ones from the old converter are coarse threads and the new converter uses fine threads. So that is put off for a few days til I get to town next. So I moved on to the snifter linkage and kick down rod and the exhaust.

For the most part the exhaust went on nicely. But the muffler hanger on the drivers side has a problem. I had to move it inboard and at the moment it is only held on with nod bolt to the body. The other hole is about 1.5 inch outboard of where it should line up at. I will most likely have to remove that muffler and tail pipe to fix that. I don't know if the re-pop hangers are wrong or where I thought is went was wrong. The cross member had 2 holes that lined up with the hanger but did not have nut inserts. So I made a nut plats and welded it in to that location. The other side had a nut plate installed, but it has been installed on the upper side of the cross member before it was installed in the car. If you recall this had a single exhaust originally and I am upgrading it.
More in a few days. I am getting excited...

I had the H-pipe from a load of parts I bought a few years back. I got the rest from West Coast Classic Cougar. The hangers I got from Mustangs Unlimited.
Thanks for the positive feedback.
