Hi All

I hope you all don't mind me using a designation that doesn't exist: 71Cougar429SCJ

If it's too wrong for the group, I'll come up with a new name.

Anyhow, just picked up a 71 Base car, really super clean, no rust, and I'm planning to put my 71 429SCJ motor in it, with Ram Air...gonna need some parts! I've had this motor for 10 years, sitting on an engine stand. Due to divorce, I had to sell my 3 70 Torino's: a real 429SCJ Drag Pack Cobra 4-speed with power windows (it was in bad shape), a base Torino Sportsroof 302 car, and a real Ranchero GT 429 TJ C6 car with a lot of options including buckets and ribbon tach.

I'm in the San Diego area...going to join some clubs now that I have a car that actually runs! Maybe we'll meet up some day.

Looks like a good candidate for the swap. The only reason I might not is if it were a 351 4V 4 speed GT. I am working on a nice 71 XR-7 and have been documenting it here.

I would love to hear about this project.

Beautiful '71 Gerard - that will be an awesome Cougar when you're done!

Do you have the hood scoop?

The car Mercury should've built!
Looking forward to future updates.

Welcome. Nice car & project idea. I hope you keep it a sleeper (I'd even be tempted to leave the R/A off).

Welcome to the group. I look forward to meeting you and seeing your car in person.

I’m in the LA area and there are a lot of great events as well as Cougar owners all over California.

There is a group creating a caravan for the June event I could also put you in touch with if you are able to attend.

Please feel free to email me if I can help in any way Chair@CougarClub.org

Extremely nice car and my favorite color. Not many of those around anymore (I think)....I've only seen a couple in person over the last 30 years.
