I just found out I have a 68 with them still in place. Riveted on both ends. Is that correct?

2 holes per side are correct for a San Jose car, Dearborn did not use rivets. I really like the rivets as they really help keep them in place. The factory had a tool (more of a jig) to place them and without said tool it can be difficult to seat them properly.

There was a TSB for Mustangs to add the rivets to cars with a customer complaint of the strips coming out. I have seen some Cougars with and some without, seemingly random dates of manufacture. Had not thought of which plant.

Every 68 San Jose car I have seen with a vinyl top has the rivets or the holes where the rivets were. Did not know about the TSB, I guess if one adds rivets to a 68 Dearborn car they could be technically correct.

I don't know if there is a Cougar TSB. You would think so. Someone posted the Mustang one over on the Concours Mustang site. I have all of them at home, just need to check.

I have a Feb 1968 built San Jose XR7, and it has the stainless strips. When we put the new vinyl top on I didn't not re-install them, as I think they look out of place on the car.
