Re: 67 gt

Sequential signals and headlight doors. Four headlights mean that the circuit breaker in the switch is challenged with Halogen bulbs.

Re: 67 gt

All 390 cars got the 9" rear. You need to read this: http://www.cougarclub.org/cougar-gt.htm

GT at this point is mostly for bragging rights. Condition has more to do with value than the original options.

Re: 67 gt

The only 390 available in the '67 Cougar was the S code. It was the standard engine in the GT, but also available separately. You will need to get a Marti Report to know for sure if the car was a GT. There were 8913 Standards with a 390. 5971 of those were GTs. Nothing on the door data tag or in the...

Re: Red GT-E - Mecum Indy - May 2018

One thing that is being missed is that rule 115 of the NHTSA standard did not become effective until January 1st of 1969. By that time all of the '68 Cougars had been built. If some one can find the original rule 115 we can see if it dictated how the tags were to be installed. I don't know that it i...

Re: Carb/Vacuum question

Where do you live? I like tuning. It is a really fine balance that you are looking for between timing, mixture, and gasoline. One thing that I always like to say repeat, is that most carb problems are actually ignition related.

Fix the splash guard while you are at it.

Re: Red GT-E - Mecum Indy - May 2018

FWIW, a number of 1968 cars have been found with either 1 or 2 screws holding the VIN in place. Sportyworty AKA Kerry has documented several. I have personally seen two, but did not take pictures as I did not at the time realize it might be important later (DOH!) In every case it appears that the sa...

Re: Carb/Vacuum question

On modified vehicles you are the engineer. You will need to do your won tuning and write your own specs. In particular if you are running a performance cam and have greatly diminished vacuum, stock parameters are not likely going to work.

Re: Carb/Vacuum question

If you are working on a Chevy then the advice being given in the article is correct. However it is not correct for Ford products built from '67 to '73. these applications also had VERY low initial static timing (usually 4 degrees or less, and some actually were set at 2 degrees AFTER TDC). This does...
