Re: 70 diecast Eliminator

I'm too distracted by the giant '68 style windshield washer tank to notice the hinges.

Re: 390 build

Go with a 700-750 cfm carb. Stick with vacuum secondaries, since you'll be running an automatic. Schneider is another old-school cam grinder with a lot of FE experience, that can set you up with a cam specific to your application. http://schneidercams.com/

Re: What to do

As much as I love the 351W, I agree with J_Speegle that a factory big-block Cougar should have a big block. Finding the correct C6 may take some patience, but coming up with a usable 390 should be easy. The only significant external difference between the 390GT used in the Cougar and Mustang, and th...

Re: 70 diecast Eliminator

The Summit model is described as having a 428 Cobra Jet engine, but the air cleaner says 302 Boss.

Re: 0F91Q5056**

Enjoying the posts, Neal. It's a mystery to me how Marti calculates his "One of ____" figures. On my black Eliminator for instance, he calculates it as a one of one, but never includes the special paint option. Doing so would have cut the number of steps to get there by half, or more, in my estimati...

Re: Boss 302 Eliminator Production

The increase in Boss 302 Mustang production was even more dramatic:

1,628 in '69.
7,013 in '70.

Also, those numbers put into perspective just how rare any Boss-engined Cougar really is.

Re: Addco rear sway bar

Anybody using the Addco 432 rear sway bar in the STOCK location. Looking at it, it looks the most similar to the stock bar. https://www.ebay.com/itm/67-70-Ford-Mustang-Mercury-Cougar-Addco-7-8-Black-Powdercoat-Rear-Sway-Bar-432/263102111275?hash=item3d421b9e2b:g:GegAAOSw0LxZc54V:rk:3:pf:1&frcectupt...

Yes, the later blocks have four holes, although the motor mounts use only three.

Re: close ratio with 3.0 rear?

I got the parts to change mine from the late Tom Watts, of Tom's Differentials. My main goal was replacing the input shaft with something stronger than stock. Not only were Tom's stronger, they were also a modular design, meaning first gear was replaceable, unlike stock where the input shaft and fir...
