Re: 1969 XR7 Convertible side window alignment

Jay, Having "SUN-X" means that you have tinted glass. The piece that says DOT-76 I believe is a later piece of replacement glass. The "AS2" stands for the American Nationals Standards Institute for glass. AS1 will be on a windshield and AS2 will be on tempered glass. If you go back and relook at the...

Re: Door question

All 1971-1973 Cougar doors are the same, makes no difference with regards to the sheetmetal whether hardtop or convertible, standard or XR-7. The only thing you may find would be the round hole in the jamb between the hinges for the wiring harness. If a car did not have any options that required the...

Re: Red GT-E - Mecum Indy - May 2018

All, Does the grill number cross as a GTE grill. Rob The number C7WB-13449 is the exact same number that is on every 67-68 Cougar taillight bezel. Yes, I looked as I have many of these bezels sitting around here. The only difference between a GTE bezel and every other Cougar bezel is that the GTE b...

Re: Forgotten Cougar found, now the fun begins

On a side note, I'm trying to source an original carb for the setup. I was thinking that it would be the Autolite 2100 but I'm not 100% if that is correct. Does anyone have an idea if I'm on the right track or am I mistaken? I have a box of original Autolite 2V carbs here so there is a chance that ...

Randy, if you ever find anything from York Lincoln Mercury that was on E Market St, buy it for me.
Will do. I am close enough to York that something like that may show up here.

For use on one of our cats the colored lights need to be green. Only a demon cat would have red anyway.

Re: HELP - Heater hose routing for 351C without A/C

I'd also appreciate any advice or walk through on how to change the heater core. I'm at a great place to change it out since I've got the entire upper and lower dash assemblies out right now. Thanks in advance. Since you already have the upper and lower dash pieces out I imagine that you have the h...

Re: 1969 XR7 Convertible side window alignment

"Carlite" only tells us that it is Ford glass, not that it is original to your car. You need to get the date code. Look at where you found the Carlite logo and you will see a number and a letter, something like 8M, 9A, 0C. Also look for the word "Tempered" or "Sun-X". You should find all 4 pieces of...

Re: Vintage Air versus Classic Auto Air

I cannot speak about the aftermarket A/C systems but the only thing that I can think of that is different between a Mustang and a Cougar with OEM parts would be the center dash vent.

Re: Reviling the "DPO"

Ford used the same single piston caliper on a lot of cars built from 1968-1973, possibly later too. The bigger issue would be what spindles you have. The 68-9 spindles use different bearings than the 1970-up.
