Re: 68 XR7 interior refresh Part - 2

Are there any photos on here that someone used paint or another alternative? (ie: leather grain), Brian You will find several threads on here where people swapped out the woodgrain for something different. Some used paint, some used vinyl. I seem to recall one that had a carbon fiber look. Randy Go...

Re: CL '70 Eliminator and potential 428 '69 Eliminator

The 69 has XR-7 door panels and seats so those have been replaced. The CJ 428 decals look like the ones used on the 69 Cyclone Spoilers. Still a car worth bringing back. Does anyone else think that the ELIMINATOR lettering looks too big on the orange 70?

Re: 68 XR7 interior refresh Part - 2

There have been several threads on here where people have used other methods to "restore" the chrome on their dash bezels. Some used paint, some found other products. Do a search and those threads should come up. Since you are taking things apart I would recommend removing the heater box as well. A ...

Re: Repainting after repairs - spots not whole car

So where does one get original paint to apply and can you get it in cans or should I plan on having to use an air sprayer? Any business that supplies automotive paint should have the ability to mix any color you want. If the business has been around for a long time they will have the paint chip boo...

Mitch, just an FYI. A 67 Cougar only had a left side torque box. If building a 100 point show car is not in your plans it is a good idea to add a right side torque box.

Re: 67 XR-7 brake light problem

Scott, You might want to keep an eye on the master cylinder. The one in my DD van did pretty much the same thing and it was the MC on its way out. The last time it popped the pedal went to the floor and I no longer had any brakes. The piece that is inside the MC that gets pushed by the rod was dragg...

Re: Driver side mirror repair

Have you tried pulling on the mirror housing to put some pressure on the screw to see if that helps? If that does not get it apart then you could take the mirror completely off the door. Yes that will mean removing the door panel to get the remote cable out with the mirror. With the mirror on a work...

Re: YouTube

"It's basically a mustang, so you can get parts for it no problem!" Y'know, I hear this all the time, and while it's not really the scope of this discussion, I have been meaning to post and ask the forum for input on a list of components that ARE actually compatible with a same-model-year Mustang. ...

Re: A newbie question on bringing back a 70 xr7

You are correct, it takes very little to go into a business here in PA and still be "legal" in the eyes of the state. And I could not agree with you more, the less government the better. But now back on topic. I am located near Hershey so we are not too far apart. Probably only a 2-3 hour drive woul...

Re: 427 v. 428

If I had been old enough in 1968 to order a new GTE I would option it with the XR-7 package and the 428 CJ. Why the 428? Because it was available with a 4 speed, and in 1968 a real muscle car had a manual transmission.
