Re: Fuel Tank Positioning

In stock form the filler opening in the tank is pretty much directly in line with the opening in the taillight panel.

Re: newbie question on what year to buy

One small correction to 93RGTE's post, the 390 was no longer available after the 1969 model year. No 1970 Cougars left the factory with a 390.

Re: 14 factory steel wheels

Yeah, I saw the error of my post after I made it. I was going to delete my post but was unable to do that. My mind went directly to the styled steel wheels as that is almost always what someone is looking for. Very rarely do I see anyone asking for a regular steel rim.

Re: started rstoration on my 69 Cougar base model

Just an FYI in case you are not aware. The plate between the block and the bellhousing is not all one piece. There is a separate piece that is used at the bottom. You need to have this plate so you have access to bolt the converter to the flex plate. You also need it if you were to decide to drain t...

Re: Engine and trans question

There are several different families of Ford engines and each requires a different transmission. There are the small blocks, 289, 302, 351W and 351C. Then you have the FE engines, 352, 360, 390, 427, 428. I am having a senior moment right now and am forgetting the name for the 351M, 400M, 429 and 46...

Re: 14 factory steel wheels

Randy: Does your car have 14 x 5.5 or 14 x 6? I have some extra 14 x 5.5. Small center hole 14 x 6 seem to be difficult to locate, at least around here. In fact I could use some, if I could find any. Newer, large center hole 14 x 6 are considerably more common, and will work, but aren't correct for...

Re: Panels behind rear seat?

Yes, there was a piece of soundproofing there. It was the same type of material that you may have found on the floor under the carpet or in the trunk under the mat. I am not aware of a reproduction of it. It originally hung off those two over sized coat hook like hangers that you can see in your pho...

Re: Paint color

Yeah, the dash pad is more work than pulling back a fender or removing a starter. Some of the screws for the pad are hidden behind other parts plus you are removing small screws, not the larger bolts on a fender or starter. And then the screw heads are finished in black which blends in with the blac...

Re: Paint color

I stand corrected...drivers side: WB 17767 10 31D2; passengers side: WB 17766 10 31D3 It looks like you are showing the front mounting bracket for the bumper in your photo. They should be painted black, not yellow but must have been painted yellow when the last repaint was done. If the numbers are ...
